Happy April 1st! No, I’m not talking about April Fools Day but rather monthly goals. I don’t always do monthly goals but I feel like I should this month. Lately, they haven’t been sticking but I’m going to try like hell to do them this month. I really need to refocus on my health, even with all the crazy school stuff. So here they are.
Goal 1: Drink 8 Glasses of Water (Daily)
I haven’t been making water a priority lately and its starting to wear on me. Whenever I start to slack off, I make it a goal of 8 glasses per day. Do I really need 8 glasses? Not sure, but it’s a nice number to shoot for.
Goal 2: Work Out 4 Times Per Week
I have been struggling with everything lately – food and fitness. With a half marathon at the end of this month, its not time to slack on the exercise. I don’t care what I do, I just need to move my body 4 times per week. Walks will not count toward this goal – only major sweat sessions.
Goal 3: Meal Plan Weekly
This will make things so much easier during the school week. Meal planning is key and I need to do it more often. This week’s plan is actually to just use up leftovers from Easter celebrations. Easy!
Goal 4: Track Food Daily
This one will be tricky as I have some homemade goods from family from Easter, which are not easy to track, but I will do my best. I need to be aware of exactly how much I’m eating (either too little or too much). This will help me get back to a good range and healthy eating.
Goal 5: Read For School
I hate reading sometimes. The papers I need to read for school tend to be a little “thick” and “heavy” but I need to do it. I’ll figure out a more concrete plan (maybe “read for 20 minutes every night”?) but I need to read more journal articles and textbooks in general along with my other work. To measure this goal, I plan on keeping track of time spent reading and number of articles/pages.
Other Non-Goals
There are some other things I want to do this month but I never make more than 5 or 6 goals per month. These are “bonus” goals. Maybe I get a gold star for every day I do these? LoL!
- 7500 Steps Per Day
- Eat 90% Paleo
- Run 3 Time Per Week
- Strength Train 2 Times Per Week
- Daily Yoga
You can see that if I chose to do all of these things (plus the other goals), I would be overwhelmed. I have to pick and choose and be realistic about what I think I can accomplish right now. I think that’s it for now. I’ve already printed a copy to hang on the fridge and I’ll upload a copy to my tablet too for easy tracking. No excuses!
What is your top goal for April?
Like I said above, with the half marathon on April 28th, now is not the time for laziness!
I LOVE new months for making goals!! this moth my husband and I are working on budgeting– we’ve got to get our money managed and a savings-system on track so we can take all the vacations we want! 😉
great idea putting it on the fridge! I was thinking about doing something like that too! I need to track my food, I eat better and lose weight. funny?!?! right haha
