Christmas is All Around! (Food Blog 12/15)

Yesterday was my first official day off!  I have off for the next 3 weeks for winter break.  Woohoo!  So what to do first?  Get Christmas shopping done!

Fitness

First up was a morning run.  Since I had skipped on Wednesday, I had planned on doing a longer run but my body had other plans.  I felt like I was dragging my feet from the start.  Then, my left thigh started to really hurt and my left ankle felt like it was going to roll (felt funny last Saturday too).  I still ended up doing 2.9 miles!

Run

Today is a full rest day and tomorrow is supposed to be a long run.  I will make sure my thigh is in tip top shape first though.  Its still bothering me today.

On to the food blog!  It’s a little scattered today so I’ll do my best.

Breakfast (463 Calories)

I bet you can’t guess, eggs and oatmeal!   And coffee.  I was going to make savory oatmeal but I totally forgot and added milk to my oats before I remembered.  Anyway, that is why it was 2 eggs and not my usual omelet.  Oh well!

I was prepping to leave to do Christmas Shopping when Rob texted that he was done with jury duty.  While I waited for him, I had some pizza.

Lunch  (655 Calories)

Rob and I got caught up shopping at TJ Maxx and it was awesome.  I got some great things!

In the middle is an oil mister.  I have one for the school apartment but needed one here.  I Also found a super cheap copy of the Eat Clean Diet.  I have some of her other books but not the original.  Also, a 5lb kettle bell for like $6.  They are so expensive normally!  Do you DSCN5805guys think 5lbs will be enough to start?  I wasn’t sure.  I plan on using it with Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method.

So on to lunch!  We were STARVED by the time we were done there so we did a quick lunch.  Chick-Fil-A it was and I got my usual chicken nuggets.  Best choices?  No, but I knew I wouldn’t eat again for a while.

Snack (400 Calories)

We stopped at Starbucks during our shopping too.  Tall americano with 1 pump peppermint, 1 pump mocha, and a little cream.  I had an apple and some chocolate later in the day.  Also had another slice of pizza right before bed.  I was starving last night!  I even woke up in the middle of the night hungry.  Ugh.  Oh and I had 2 cookies and some milk before bed, I was so hungry.  Stupid cookies.

Dinner  (181 Calories)

Dinner was on the very light side.  We really need to go grocery shopping.  Rob cooked up a steak he had in the fridge.  I took a small piece and added a salad.

Recap

DSCN5815So that’s it!  I got almost all of my Christmas shopping done.  We even got a little fake tree and decorated it a bit (ran out of hooks, forgot ornaments don’t come with them!).  The cats terrorized the presents all night, crushing a couple of the boxes.  Why do I have cats???? UGH!  I just have to run out for a gift card and 2 little things and I’m done!

And as a holiday present to you guys, I found a second copy of the Eat-Clean Diet at Marshall’s yesterday and I am giving it away!  Just leave a comment saying you want to enter and telling me why you love Clean Eating and you are entered into the giveaway.  I’ll select the winner randomly on Sunday morning!  Happy Friday!

  1. Why do I love eating clean? I feel amazing! It’s kind of like using premium gas in a sports car…you wouldn’t put cheap low octane gas in it and expect it to run the same…just like our bodies…put in good, clean, nutrient dense food and you feel amazing! I can run a 12 mile run on Sunday and not even skip a beat the rest of the day, or the days following…my recovery is really quick and no aches and pains afterwards! I have tons of energy, no mid-day slumps and I think that I look and feel better than my peers my age…(see, that’s why I can hang with you youngsters!!!) 😉

Have a great weekend! And your tree/gifts look very festive! Got to get moving over here at my house!!!

  2. Angela, I’d like to enter your contest. I love clean eating as it makes me feel like the true me. Not the person with fibro, arthritis, IBS, depression, high blood pressure etc. I feel more like a whole healthier person, trying to regain me and eliminate the above conditions from my body. This is a health journey on becoming a better me inside and outside. Eliminating weight, familial and non-familial health conditions, old habits, and previous unwanted choices.

For me to be eating cleaner includes making better whole organic food choices. Choices that Mother Nature has created for us. Choices of whole foods from the Earth as we were meant to enjoy them. More whole (uncooked and sometimes cooked) natural organic produce, whether that is from our own self sufficient gardens, sharing from a friend’s garden, or supporting our local organic farmers (like I do). Choosing leaner fish and chicken from known and local sources.

I am becoming healthier as I eat cleaner, as I make better positive wanted choices, as I continue to become the truer me. Being able to go from a woman who could hardly walk and get out of bed, to a woman who can now walk 7.7 miles in a day and counting. To increase my personal stamina, so that I am able to continue to incorporate exercise, stretching, yoga, zumba … into my daily life.

Clean eating is becoming a newer habit for me that will become my full time healthy eating regime. To increase my personal health and decrease the unhealthy unwanted conditions. This is the loving, caring, compassionate woman becoming her healthier and truer self for me and for others.

Angela thanks for posting this and allowing us the opportunity to win a much needed
copy of the Eat-Clean Diet book. Much love, hugs, blessings, health, happiness, fun, friends, family and everything else your heart desires for Christmas, New Year’s and Always! ?

  3. Im just starting to REVAMP the diet of clean eating. I love how I have more energy, feel better, and I am in a much better mood without all the sugar and processed food!
