Craft Season & Home Upgrades

There are always sooo many craft shows in the winter time it seems!  Or maybe its just me?  Anyway, my mom called me Saturday morning and asked if I wanted to join her for our town’s craft show at the new community center.  Of course, I wanted to go!  I quickly got ready and we headed out.  There was plenty to see, and of course, all made locally!  Our first stop was soap and having sensitive skin, I really wanted to see what this guy had.  I ended up getting a bar of his Castile soap which is made completely out of Olive oil.  It is also non-scented so my skin won’t mind it 🙂  Can’t wait to try it!  Taking it right to the new apartment to use there.  He has a website at walkersnatural.com.  He even said if I need an order, to just call them and they can meet me at the Wawa in town so I don’t have to have it shipped!  Awesome!  If this really helps my skin, it will be a possibility!

Next up, I got some all natural “no sugar added” jam.  They don’t add anything but fruit, water, concentrates, pectin, and citric acid.  I got a jar of the Double Berry to try.  I wanted the damson plum but it was too liquidy for sandwiches.  These people, I would have to call to order any but its not something I can’t find elsewhere.  Still will be good to try!

They had the usual crafts with needlepoint and jewelry everywhere.  Lots of jewelry actually.  Really too much.  Gets tiring seeing the same stuff over and over.  There was one stand that had her photos under resin as charms which was kind of cool.  I didn’t get any jewelry that day.

Did I mention I didn’t get breakfast before heading out?  Usually these things have food but they didn’t at this one!  Luckily there was a woman doing a bake sale for her church.  Got one of these Gooey bars and it was delicious!  It had nuts so that saved it a little on the healthy scale, right?  LoL, it was something!

There was this woman selling these adorable hats too.  I was in love!  I wish there was one that wasn’t so kid-like or I would have gotten one for myself!  I wish I had kids to buy these for!!!  They also had some adorable baby sweaters.  I almost got one for my cousin but they were a little expensive and figuring that the baby could only wear it for a few months, I decided not to.  Maybe I can figure out how to crochet one myself!

I think my favorite table was this one!  Big Daddy’s Homemade Jams and Jellies.  I had such a hard time deciding!  They were a little pricey for a craft show but I really wanted some so I only got one jar.  They had some really cool combos like Peach Chipotle (soooo wish I had gotten a jar!!!).  Only weird thing I found was that even the savory flavors contained sugar.  I guess to cut the heat and/or acidity since most of the savory jams were hot.  I got a jar of the South Jersey Jam (tomatoes, sugar, garlic, peppers, lemon juice, salt, pepper).  Can’t wait to try cooking with it!

We ended at the ultimate candy table.  They had pumpkin pie fudge!!!  It was so good but I didn’t get any to go.  I did get the small ones that look like pies as gifts for a couple people.  My mom and I also split a baggie of chocolate covered pretzels (my favorite!)

We headed out after that and did some errands.  I had to do some things with Rob and bake for Lauren’s party.  Can you believe I was so frazzled with the baking that I didn’t take any pictures???  I went to Lauren’s with my goodies (Gorilla Bread, yum!).  She was having a  Thirty One party.  They make these awesome totes, organizers, and bags.  Loved it!  She is thinking about becoming a consultant and I will have a party from her if she does.  Love having and going to home shows!

I spent the rest of the night hanging out with Rob and the cats (mostly the cats)

I am a kitty pillow.  Obviously!  Today was pretty low key.  We mostly worked on packing stuff to take to the new apartment.  We have extra pots and pans, silverware, plates, etc.  I pretty much have everything but a bed!  Rob is going down with me tomorrow most likely.  I have lots of homework and classes but maybe I can send him to the store to pick up items I need (toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc).  He just can’t stand the thought of being apart for a single day!

In other news, we updated more of our kitchen.  You saw the new island already.  We added a pot rack with lights above it and Rob brought in his 22 quart mixture and set it up.  Yes, 22 quarts.  It is an old industrial one made for restaurants.  It is from the 30’s and it still works!  There is going be some baking craziness this holiday season!  Oh, and Rob also bought a 20 pound uncooked ham.  He is just too funny.  We cooked it today and it was amazing!  We made pulled pork for lunch tomorrow and froze most of the rest for when Rob has to cook for himself.

Now its time to pack some clothes and things for the 3 days in the new apartment tomorrow and then off to bed for work in the AM!  I will be staying at school Monday through Wednesday so should be interesting.  Let’s hope I don’t forget anything important!

  1. I LOVE craft shows too… My favourite of the year is coming up next Saturday. And I always wish I had kids so I could buy all the cute stuff for them. I end up buying some cute stuff for me though. Yes, I probably look a little silly, but as long as it fits!!

Your hubby looks like a kitchen master there. Have a great week at the new apartment!

  2. Have fun in your apt! I get to attend a bunch of craft show/vendor fairs myself as a Mary Kay consultant…always a fun time! Love just meeting all of the different people and seeing just how creative some folks are!!!

  3. I love that she made pie fudge “pies”! What a cute idea! Hope you get everything settled at the apartment and you can enjoy and relax soon! 🙂
