Finding the Time

Yesterday, the scale decided it had enough of my crap and decided to scare me into action.  I stepped on and saw some numbers I really didn’t like followed by a final number I wasn’t too excited about either.  I hadn’t weighed myself in a few weeks and have been just doing whatever I want lately.  The scale reflected this for me.

On the bright side, my weight was back to “normal” today, the same as a few weeks back.  I must have been bloated but that number scared the crap out of me!  Yesterday, I managed to clean up my game and do some really great things:

  • Tracked all my food
  • 25 minutes of Strength Training
  • 20 minutes of Zumba
  • 64 ounces of water
  • 630 net calories burned (total eaten minus total burned)

Breakfast wasn’t healthy due to running late and hitting drive through but I managed to pull things together and have a really successful day!  I felt accomplished by the end of the day.

There was one major problem with my day.  I didn’t dedicate any time to school work.  Sure, I was at the clinic all day, but I didn’t do any work when I got home.  I didn’t have homework due or an exam, but there is always research and studying to do.  I didn’t have any time for that!  And that can’t be a normal thing.  Last week, I did a 3.2 mile run and it took me an hour and half to get it done (driving to park, run, stretch, drive home).  This is completely unacceptable.

Shorter, more intense workouts are definitely a great idea but I have a half marathon coming up.  I have to get in mileage, no matter how long it takes.  There is the major dilemma of the whole situation.  Do I do any short workout in place of my run because it is better than nothing?  Then again, I need to get mileage in at some point too.  Do I do my run first and then not have time for school work?  How do I find the right balance?

These are all things running around my head on a daily basis.  What comes first?  What about spending time with  my husband?  How do I have time to cook healthy meals so I don’t end up in the drive through?  I also need to ensure I get at least 8 hours of sleep each night or I’ll be completely useless all around!

Now that I feel completely overwhelmed with the rest of my week, I think I should get started on homework.  I don’t exercise on Wednesday but I need to figure out how to squeeze something in tomorrow and Friday at least!

How do you fit in a workout?

  1. Ugh! It’s hard when there doesn’t seem like enough time for everything. I finally have had to get up early to fit in my workouts. But I feel so much better just to have it crossed off my “to do” list first thing.
