Foggy Head

Happy Tuesday!  Today is off to a slow start for me.  I’ve been having issues with my sleep again but instead of not sleeping, I’m sleeping too much!  I set alarms but they don’t wake me up.  You see, my husband leaves for work a little before 7 and I used to get up after he left (I’m not a morning person and would rather wake up in a quiet house alone).  Well, its been 8:00 lately.  Not so bad.  Then its been creeping on 9 AM!  WAY too late for me.

Funny thing is, I actually wake up every morning at 5:45 before Rob’s alarm at 6.  The key here would be to get up then.  I would get my 15 minutes of quiet-house-ness before Rob rolled out of bed.  Maybe I can even make an agreement with him not to talk to me until at least 6:15.  LoL.  Of course, this is easier said than done.  I’m just thinking out loud here. I’ll figure out a new routine.

This too-much-sleep thing is causing me to be foggy brained all day though which is making it really hard to concentrate on my research.  Slowly but surely getting done but not as fast as I’d like.

In health news, after my blog yesterday about weight gain, I tried to stick with my recommended calories from My Fitness Pal.

At first, I was munchy all morning and miserable and then I realized MFP when synced with FitBit actually had subtracted calories from my minimum of 1200 to eat!  WHAT?!  It was because I hadn’t moved around much all day (hello work-from-home-desk-job).  I won’t eat less than 1400 so I realized I could eat more than I was and not have to try to pinch calories for dinner so much.  Besides, I was going for a run at the park.

Rob worked all weekend and was tired and I was feeling lethargic too (from my accidental morning fast most likely).  We decided to mostly walk and run when we felt like it.  We tried a new trail too and it added almost a half a mile to our run!  We managed to get a nice even 2 miles in a slow 33 minutes (see, mostly walking) and 258 calories burned!

After the run, we were stopping to get salads at a local pizza place (they make a killer salad actually) but decided on subs instead.  It was much cheaper than the salads (I am a firm believe that it is not cheaper to eat healthy) and it hit the spot though I think the whole thing was a little too much and I should have only had half.  I’ll remember next time (or maybe Rob and I can split a sub and a salad?).

So not a bad day 1 back into it.  Here’s shooting for a day 2!
