Fun or Fit

My name is Angela and it’s been 5 days since my last blog.  Boy do I feel like I have a lot to talk about today!  I guess that happens when you skip 4 days of blogging!  Ha!  I do have sad news, I did lots of fun, exciting things this weekend and took lots of pictures!  On the nice Nikon camera… Which is at home… In NJ.  So you don’t get to see the pictures from rugby or of the kitties or the baby chicks or the Pinterest and sewing projects I did all weekend with my mom.  I’m sorry.  I’ll pretend next Monday that I did them over the weekend and write a wonderful blog about it!

I do have pictures from Friday though!  It was a rugby friend’s birthday and his girlfriend planned a surprise party.  We had dinner at Angelo’s Fairmount Tavern in Atlantic City which was wonderful!   I will write a Local Eats review sometime this week 🙂  Afterwards, we headed to a casino to see what was happening at the clubs and bars.  We really had a blast and I can’t wait to hang out with them again!

So this leads to one of the issues I’ve been having with marathon training.  Time and priorities.  This past weekend was jam packed from Friday afternoon all the way to Sunday night.  Sure, I had a lot of fun, but I really need to make marathon training more of a priority.  Fitness in general has been falling to the wayside.  One thought is to move my long run day to a weekday but the problem there is that I am at school.  I like to run with friends and in familiar places both of which Dover is slightly lacking.

I really have to figure out a plan or solution to this.  Maybe Rob and I can talk about doing my runs on Sunday morning together before grocery shopping.  In the meantime, I’m back to using my gigantic Vera Bradley bag to lug running clothes with me to work:

See the water bottle, Under Armor, and sneakers?  (I know, the owl coin purse is adorable too).  Today’s plan is to just get that running gear on and move my butt, even if it’s crazy hot out.

In other health news, I snapped this picture and added an arrow for you guys to see where I park for work.  Gotta get those steps in!

I also made another smoothie for Colourful Palate‘s July Smoothie Challenge.  I first soaked some ground chia seed in the water in hopes it would thicken and also added my supplements and flax seed meal.  The rest is kale, strawberries, a banana, coconut milk, and 2 raw eggs.  (I only use the raw eggs because I know they are from my own chickens.  I wouldn’t do this with store bought eggs.)  I went a little heavy on the kale but it tastes pretty good otherwise!

Anyway, I was thinking about making more goals for the rest of the month but I’m not sure.  Goals haven’t been working for me the last few weeks because my head hasn’t been in the right place for them.  I will mull it over tonight and think about what I could do differently that will help me be more successful!  Until tomorrow then!
