Gearing Up to Lose

Each day, we all do things to get us closer to or further away from our goals. For the last few months, my goal was basically “not gain weight” but I think I’m ready to make it “lose fat” again. I’m not quite ready for goals yet and seeing as it is the middle of the month, why don’t I use the next few weeks as practice for the awesomeness that is going to happen in October?!

So yesterday, I…

  • Tracked my food!
  • Was in a good calorie range.
  • Got 7975 steps.

But I also…

  • Ate a lot of wheat products.
  • Didn’t drink enough water.
  • Had an unsatisfactory carb/protein/fat ratio.

One thing I noticed is that I don’t pack enough food for school. Today, I threw in some Larabars to up the calories but I also only have one meal packed so I will have to eat out, probably for lunch. I can definitely get a salad somewhere but has anyone noticed how expensive they are?? The food truck outside my building has meatball subs for like $5. This is the dilemma of a broke college student who is trying to eat healthy.

Today, I should get plenty of steps because I have class in my furthest building. I forgive myself for not hitting the gym if I get lots of steps that day. But what should my threshold be? 7500? 10000? Yesterday, I tried not walking around too much because my shoes were hurting my feet and I still hit almost 8000! Phew.

Well, I must be off. I had just a few minutes to sit down and eat my breakfast while I blogged. Now, I have to catch the train and I won’t be home until after 10 tonight! Have a great day everyone!

What hard decisions do you have to make about your health?

Do you ever have to decide between cost and benefit?

  1. When out with the kids all day (say on a soccer saturday) if I plan for them and forget to plan food for myself, I’d rather be hungry and not eat than eat a food that will mess me up. The pain, discomfort, damage isn’t work the cost of a full belly…figure I won’t starve to death and my next meal will come soon enough!!!

      1. I hear ya! Luckily for me, I seem to be OK with an empty belly, I will get grouchy at the end of the day if I’m still empty, but breakfast/lunch skip is ok if it’s one or the other! If I’m in a serious pinch, I”ll suck it up and get some hard cooked eggs from WaWa. 🙂

  2. Cost and benefit are huge with me. Sometimes 1 wins and sometimes the other. I don’t tend to stick to either one. I guess it is situational mostly with me. I tend to stock up on healthier items when they are on sale, otherwise, I skip them due to price.

  3. Who needs to make new goals at the beginning of the month!?!? great goals! (and I agree with you and tiffany, I can’t just not eat. I get EXTREMELY cranky haha)
