Week 4 Focus: Avoiding Vices

After a holiday weekend, I always feel off track, like I have to get back into things, especially with my personal vices (sugar, breads, etc.).  This week, I want you to pick one thing that is a major vice for you (and your healthy lifestyle) and try to rid it from your life this week.  Its just 7 days!  You can do it!

For me, I will be attempting to follow a 100% Paleo Diet to avoid sugars, grains, and legumes.  This will be especially hard for me when the weekend comes and I’m tempted with Starbucks!

Monday: Pick Your Vice

Today is simple: I just want you to think about your biggest vice and make a plan of attack to avoid it this week.  You’ll need a plan for what to do when faced with temptation.  For example, my biggest challenge will be at Starbucks.  I need to find something I can have instead of my usual!

Tuesday: Abs Workout

Core strength is important for every day tasks and all sorts of sports.  Just standing uses your abs!  Do at least 10 minutes of abs work today.  You could try this 10 Minute Ab Workout from Jackie Warner on FitnessMagazine.com!

Wednesday: Recipe: Pomegranates

Pomegranates are finally in season!  I’ve been eating them for years; we got one in the toe of our Christmas stocking every year for as long as I can remember!  Maybe its one of your favorite fruits or you’ve never had it before, give it a try.  You can eat it plain or try it in a recipe, your choice.  Here is a great tutorial (with pictures!) on How to Peel a Pomegranate.  If you’ve never done it before, trust me, you will need it!

Thursday: Cardio Workout

Today, I want you to do at least 15 minutes of cardio.  I found this fun routine on FitnessMagazine.com also.  I think I’ll try it out!

Friday: Try a Smoothie

Smoothies are just fun and a great way to get in raw fruits and veggies.  Give it a shot today!  Make sure to share the recipe with us!!

Today, I want you to do your favorite fitness routine/workout/exercise!  Let us all know what it is and why it is your favorite.  Convince us all that we need to try it too  Smile

Sunday: A Past Accomplishment

Sometimes in a healthy lifestyle, it is easy to get frustrated at where you are now.  A plateau, a gain, an injury, etc.  It is easy to get caught up in the negatives.  This time, I want you to give yourself a pat on the back for something you accomplished in the past.  It could be a long time ago or it could be recent (i.e. “I crushed all my goals this week!”).  Tell us all about it and how proud you are of yourself!  You rock!
