iBodyFit Review & Giveaway!

Recently, I had the privilege of becoming a member of the website iBodyFit, an online fitness and health website that provides online workouts, meal plans, and personal training for its members.  I was provided with a free Premium Membership ($69 value) in return for a review and giveaway (ooh, that’s a nice word isn’t it?!).

The Premium Membership ($69 Per Year) includes:

  • A Custom Diet for 1 Month
  • Trainer Guidance for 1 Month
  • Fit Executive and Travel Workouts
  • Free eBooks
  • Unlimited Site Access (also in Basic)
  • 400+ Online Workouts (also in Basic)
  • 1,000+ Exercises (also in Basic)
  • Fitpoints (also in Basic)

When I first logged in, I was asked to fill out a very thorough health background form and a current fitness level form.  This is so that the trainers can understand your limitations and also your goals (for example, I put down that I wanted to lose weight).  These took only a few minutes (I’m pretty easy, I have no health concerns) and I was off to my homepage.

Your profile/homepage is the place where you will find everything you need.  Here, you can track your stats (weight, measurements, progress pictures, etc.) and find all of the fitness and nutrition information you’ll need.  First, I checked out all of the workout plans they provided and there are tons:

  • Training Plans for Distance Running from 1 Mile to a Marathon, ranging from beginner plans to advanced!
  • Triathlon Training Plans
  • Weight Loss (10, 20, and 30 pounds)
  • Beginner’s Plans
  • Challenges
  • Advanced Workout Plans
  • Yoga & Pilates

All of these plans have their own monthly schedules set up but if you are just not feeling like a plan, you can instead head into their depository of complete online workout videos that range from 5 minutes to 90 minutes and arranged by category.  You can also use the site as a quick reference to learn a new move through their demo videos (which are also provided when paired along with the monthly workout plans).

As if this wasn’t enough, some of the monthly plans are also paired with a diet plan that will further increase your results.  A quick email to Franklin, trainer and founder of iBodyFit, with all your personal details (height, weight, goal weight, age, gender) will get you that plan in a day or so.  (Remember, he needs time to tailor it just for you!).

You can also get a meal plan that doesn’t go along with a specific training plan.  If you just head over to the Diet and Nutrition page, you will find a plethora of meal plans awaiting you.  Some examples include:

  • Vegan and Vegetarian
  • Low Carb (40% carbs) and Low Glycemic Index
  • Fitness Based (Mass Gainer, Sports, Lean Body Builder)
  • Healthy Heart, Low Cholesterol, Mediterranean
  • Many, many others!

Of course, I asked for the Gluten-Free Diet (no Paleo Diet… yet?) with no dairy but that was a pretty tall order.  To get me started, Franklin sent over the regular Gluten-Free (GF) Diet for my body/gender/goals.  I am totally used to working around foods I can’t eat, so that was no problem!  They said they will work on a Dairy-free version also.

The meal plan looks excellent, easy to prepare, and easy to follow.  Everything is laid out exactly for you, no thinking required.  Your daily protein, fat, carb, and calorie totals are also provided for you.  The meal plan I received was for 7 days and also comes with a convenient shopping list!  Seriously, no thinking needed at all.  I was also happy to see that the GF meal plan doesn’t depend heavily on substitutes (GF bread, GF pasta, GF crackers, etc.).  There are a few here and there but not at every meal!  Thumbs up!

The only thing I was bummed about was seeing a few things I wouldn’t really recommend like butter substitute.  I figure though that that is common practice for most websites that provide a health eating plan (like SparkPeople and MyFitnessPal).  I’m just a crazy person who likes butter!  But otherwise, the plan was great!

Finally, I mentioned FitPoints above under the membership perks.  As you use the website more and more, you can earn FitPoints for watching videos, filling out forms (like your health form), etc.  These points can then be applied toward items in the store such as sporting equipment, custom meal plans, and even custom online training.

Now for the Giveaway!  It is for a Premium Membership also so it will include all of the perks I listed above and you will be able to use all of the same features I could. To enter, leave a comment telling me what you think makes a great fitness website (use Rafflecopter to verify your entry). For an extra entry, tweet “Enter to win a Premium 1 Year Membership from @iBodyFit and @TheChickenScoop! http://thechickenscoop.net/?p=4687″. The drawing will remain open until Thursday, May 23rd at midnight. Good luck!

  1. Lots of opportunity to interact with other folks, and get the encouragement that I need to keep on a plan. I like having it all layed out there for me, so that I don’t have to think much. But, I also like a plan that has room to be adapted to having a family who isn’t on the plan.

  2. This would be a dream come true- I LOVE stuff like this!!! WHat a perfect thing to just geek out over in fitness world!! 😛 I love how everything is all laid out- I think thats important- when I knwo I have a plan I can stuck with it a lot easier- I am on a roll right now- and its cuz I have a plan- but boy oh boy would I like one made JUST for me!! for my height my weight my goals! I love that!
This sounds great- something that can really get off those last stubborn pounds- and also to help someone get started!!

  3. Looks awesome! I love “no brainer” plans and when I just have something to follow vs. having to come up with it myself!!! Thanks for the review!

  4. I think the main thing a fitness website has to contain is variety – everyone has a different need to being able to cater (as best they can) to what would really help someone become a healthier version of themselves is what speaks volumes to me.
