It’s Sled Day

Today’s workout was pretty interesting.  I got there and no one else was there.  I actually double checked that it was Wednesday because, being home all the time, you lose track of days.  Well, I confirmed it was definitely Wednesday and theorized that no one was there because it was freaking 22º outside!  Once other people arrived, there was a consensus that no one was running outside.  I really wanted to though, so I did a lap alone and came back in to thaw my fingers!

Warm Up

Next up was jogging inside for a few laps with everyone else.  So far, only 4 people were there, and a few people trickled in after that.

Jose claimed today would be “easy”…  He set up a sled for each of us with 35lb plates on top.  Easy, he said.

  • Put 20lb sandbag on top of sled, Sled Push 5 yards, 10 clean & squat with sandbag, repeat for 40 yards
  • Sled Push 5 yards, 10 pushups, repeat for 40 yards
  • 10 squats with sandbag (put to side)
  • Sled push 5 yards, Hip to Hip with 35lb Plate, repeat for 40 yards
  • 10 Burpees
  • Sled Push 5 yards, 10 jump squats, repeat for 40 yards
  • ** I missed something here because it took me so long to do the sled and jump squats, the rest of the class had lapped me doing whatever it is they did while I was busy dying.
  • Sled Push 40 yards
  • 10 Burpees, 10 Pushups, 10 Jump Squats
  • Sled Push Suicides
  • 100 Crunches

I can’t even tell you how much sand I got in my eyes and up my nose just from the first exercise.  Then I had turf dirt and grass all over the place.  I went to Wawa for coffee afterwards.  I went in the bathroom to wash my hands and realized half my face was black with turf dirt!  Haha!  At least I can say there weren’t any bear crawls today.

I weighed in this week and am up a few pounds.  I definitely need to do better at tracking my food habits.  I know that is where the key lies.  Besides, as I lose weight, these workouts will get easier, which is more motivation for me than anything else right now!

In other news, I am so excited that my book came in the mail!

I pre-ordered “Level Up Your Life” by Steve Kamb (blogger at Nerd Fitness) months ago when he announced its release.  I am super excited to read this since I’m obsessed with his blog too.  He’s very straightforward about achieving your goals and getting the most out of life.  I’ll do a review when I am done reading but I am sure it will be awesome.

Until Friday, friends!  I am going to New York City tomorrow to hang out with a college friend who is in town for the week.  She lives in Texas now so this is way closer than normal.  I am taking a bus so I don’t have to deal with driving, traffic, parking, etc.  I’m taking my book too so I’ll be entertained and then there will be lots and lots of walking!  So excited!

What is your top must-see in NYC?

I lived in Brooklyn for a year so I’ve done quite a bit in the city.  I’m not sure what she’s got planned for us but just walking around would be fine with me!  I always just loved the people watching in the city!
