Summer Fun

Hello!  Long time no chat.  I obviously have a really hard time blogging at night after work.  I just want to snuggle on the couch with the kitties and the hubby, what can I say?

What have I been up to?  Well…

Friends & Family

Lots of time always spent with the family and close friends.  It being summer at the Jersey Shore, there’s tons going on!  I have a friend from out of town stay for a weekend and we did all the Shoebie things (local word for tourist).

This past weekend, we went with some friends to Bacon-fest in Tuckerton, NJ for the day.  It poured a good bit while we were there but it was still fun!  We kept the eating reasonable.  There was a bruschetta bacon sandwich that was fantastic and chipotle honey thick cut bacon.  I’m drooling just thinking about it!

Other than that, I’ve been working a lot, often working late, and then spending the evenings with Rob.  Very boring every day life!

Fitness

I’ve been running!  In case you missed it, I signed up for the Atlantic City Neptune Challenge 10K and Half Marathon in October.  I haven’t been running as much as I should but I have started and am working on a good routine.  Slowly but surely I will toe that start line in the fall, prepared!

I’m not the fastest.  I am doing run/walk intervals that average about 0.1 miles each.  I am glad that I have been consistent so far though.  It would be worse to have my times/pace all over the place.  I am just going to keep trying to add mileage.  My overall plan for training, without looking at an exact schedule, is to run 3-4 times per week, with at least 2 runs about 2-3 miles, one long run, and one supplemental run (to train for the double race weekend).  I don’t want to stress myself out by concentrating on exact numbers too much!

Nutrition

My eating habits have been up and down.  I haven’t tracked consistently but I have started up again because I think I need to keep an eye on things.  With it being summer and all the fun festivities, I’ve been having more treats than normal though.  I’ve been trying to at least keep it all in balance!

So now that we’re all updated, again, maybe I can get on a regular blogging schedule!  Tell me how you are enjoying the summer!
