2 Mile Limit

I always forget.  2 miles is my limit.  I have to make it past 2 miles in a run before deciding what to do from there.  So for me, the hardest run is a 3 miler.  I just want to stop at 2 but I could easily make it to 3.  After 2 miles, my mind finally settles down and I’m able to run without the constant whining from myself about how tired/sore/bored I am.

Today, I headed over to the fitness room in my complex.  It is small but sufficient.  During marathon training, all I will need is a treadmill!  I still don’t know the area around my place so I decided to just head there even though I hate the treadmill with a passion.  I figured 3 miles couldn’t be that bad!

I hopped on and felt good but knew I was dehydrated.  Miles 1-2 were brutal.  I just didn’t want to be there!  At mile 2, I decided to quit and I tracked my run on the Spark People app.  Now, I had Pandora playing from my phone since I had left my ipod in NJ.  Just as I was walking, a favorite song came on!  I decided, well, why not run for this song.  Then “Stronger” by Kanye West came on.  I like the original song by Daft Punk and how can I walk when this is coming out of my phone:

Work It Harder Make It Better
Do It Faster, Makes Us stronger
More Than Ever Hour After
Our Work Is Never Over

So that song alone took me to 2.94 miles!  I had pushed the pace the last half mile and I  felt GREAT!  I was a sweaty mess but happy I pushed through!

  1. Good for you! Doesn’t it feel even that much better when you finish after needing to convince yourself to do it? Like you beat the system somehow!
