Blueberry Cinnamon Smoothie

Today’s smoothie was inspired by a recipe I found online for a Cinnamon Blueberry Gingerbread Smoothie but I just didn’t have all the ingredients so I made my own thing.

  • 1 Banana
  • 1/2 cup Blueberries
  • Handful of Spinach
  • Splash of Almond Milk
  • Splash of Coconut Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Water
  • Ice

I also threw in my Brown Seaweed capsule and my amino acid capsule (can’t remember which one it is).  Verdict:  it’s ok, not my favorite but has a very interesting flavor with the cinnamon in there.  Might try adding some protein powder next time and chia seeds and take out the banana (I used that as a thickener).  Not bad for just experimenting!

Only problem with smoothies for breakfast is that it interferes with my morning coffee.  Anyone else have this problem?  LoL

I’m not feeling very inspired to blog this morning so I think I’ll stop here.  Thank you to Esther who gave me tons of blog ideas after I sent out an SOS on SparkPeople but my brain just doesn’t want to function that deeply right now.  I will be saving all those excellent topics for another day!  Happy Hump Day!

  1. looks delicious!! I love having a smoothie after my workouts, especially with the heat wave that just went through!

  2. I love smoothies but can’t eat it for an entire meal. I get so hungry after an hour. I tend to drink it with coffee though (my husband is with you on this matter). The smoothie does taste good but where is the “gingerbread” part? haha

    1. I didn’t do the “Gingerbread” as I didn’t have all the spices needed! Mine was just “Cinnamon”. LoL.

I can only do a smoothie as a meal if it has a significant amount of protein in it. This one did not so it didn’t suffice (but I had it right after my morning eggs & veggies). I am trying to add a 4th meal to my day though so smoothies are a good option I think!

  3. Have to say that for smoothies, I go in spurts. Have them often and then not at all for a while. Mostly, I think it is laziness that causes the drought. I have a stick blender, so it really isn’t a good excuse, but the blender does a better job – just a pain to clean…hence, the laziness. Plus, it’s not on my counter – so out of sight, out of mind…(which might also lead to the spurt – once it’s out, I don’t put it away for a few days, so I have another!) Yours does sound yummy and they are refreshing!

    1. LoL I am the same way! I am only doing them for ColourFul Palate’s July smoothie challenge! Otherwise, I hate washing the blender.
