Boardwalk 8 Miler

Just a quick health and fitness update for now.  I’ll have a weekend recap with lots of pictures later tonight or tomorrow!  Including pictures of my Pinterest project from last weekend 🙂

So… I did it!  I did my long run this weekend!  Even though Rob had a rugby tournament on Saturday, he got up Sunday morning with me and we headed out for an 8 mile run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Obviously it was a beautiful day and our run went great!  I think the 30 degree drop in temperature probably had something to do with it.  Oh how I’m over these heat waves.  We took a few breaks, completely stopping instead of walking.  I actually really enjoyed that tactic as it really gave my legs time to rest unlike walking.  My goal pace for the run was 12-12:30 minutes/mile, and with the stops, our average pace was 12 even!  We were keeping a great pace for me!

This run made me feel a ton better about marathon training and I may have convinced Rob to run it with me!  He knows I don’t like to run completely alone and having him running the marathon with me would be awesome!  Of course Kristen and Tiffany will be there but their names are really Miss Fast and Miss Faster so I won’t really be running “with” them exactly.

Here is my schedule/plan for this week:

I can’t believe my mud run is already on Saturday!!  I am super excited/scared for it.  I’m not sure I’ll be able to do some of the obstacles but it will be fun either way.  That will be one goal marked off for the year them too!  My long run for this weekend is supposed to be 9 miles so I will “make up” the distance with a 4 mile run later on Saturday or on Sunday morning.  That’s it for now!  Look for a picture heavy weekend recap later!!

  1. Congrats on the 8 miles! I’ve been rusty, but have run twice here in Oregon. Sickness + heat in NJ made it rough. I’m supposed to do a seven miler today, but after a night of teething pain, I’m not so sure. We will have to get together once tom and I are back from Florida in early August.

  2. Congrats on getting in your long run (I’d love to have a proper break from the insanely-death-valley-temps that have usurped our Midwest the past 2 years!).

    Have fun with the mudder!

  3. Yeah! And of course you know I will say, ROB JOIN US!!! The more the merrier!!! He’s going to be there, anyway…may as well join in! And…since I know he reads the blog…Guinness at end of run = heaven! So, do it for the Guinness! It tastes WAY better at the end than any other time….yummm….

    1. I didn’t know there was Guinness at the end!! I think I need to start incorporating that into my training. Have a pint after every long run. Make sure my stomach can handle it 😉 LoL
