Sabotage

Have you ever had that light bulb moment when you realize you have been sabotaging yourself in something?  That was this morning for me.  Lately, I have had a huge case of the I-Don’t-Wanna’s.

I don’t want to eat healthy.
I don’t want to work out.
I don’t want to run.
I don’t want to clean.

You get the idea.  And then today my lovely friend Tiffany send me a blog that she found particularly inspiring.  A blog about being stuck.  And that is when I realized that I am stuck too.  My head won’t let me do what it knows I need to.  It has a case of the I-Don’t-Wanna’s!  For me, this moment really came when I realized that yes, I can run a marathon.  I think I have been slacking on my workouts and runs so that maybe a point will come where it will be too late to train and I won’t be able to run it.  Why would I do this?  I have no idea!

What do I need to do to get out of this funk?  Its time to start using my trusty old “It’s Not an Option” once again!  I have registered and told everyone about the marathon so I have to train for it!  I need to be healthy and fit in order to train so I need to eat right!  As for the normal mood funk that I’ve been in, I think its due to a lack of schedule.  Having nothing to do all day gets really old really fast.  That won’t last too long though so hopefully it will remedy itself.  If not, I just need to put myself on some sort of schedule.

So that’s really it for today.  I need to get my butt up and off this computer before this flood of motivation goes away!

Have you noticed you were sabotaging yourself before?  How did you turn it around?

  1. You got it, girl! I did a paper way back in college (yes, before there were computers!) about why we procrastinate and how we can use it as a defense mechanism…”I didn’t do well on the test since I didn’t study hard….I didn’t do well on my paper since I wrote it the day before….I didn’t run my best time since I didn’t train well”…it places the blame on something else so we don’t feel bad about ourselves….but, as you pointed out, once you realize that is what you are doing, then it doesn’t work! You know that you can run it and do well, you just need to train. You already know that you are “putting off the training” since if you do, you will run out of time…so…now that you are aware, it won’t work anymore!!!! Get out there and enjoy the sunshine and mild-ish temps! Have a great run and put in a few miles for me! (sidelined from ALL exercise for 3 more weeks! Ack!)
