Down for the Count

Ankle

Big time bummer again.  Last week, I strained my hamstrings during a workout and was out for days.  Last night, I was playing the Kinect in some flat shoes and my ankle felt funny.  I switched to sneakers almost right away but at that point, I guess it was too late.  I did some errands today and I constantly felt like I had rolled or was going to roll my ankle at any moment.  So I’m resting it today.  I will probably put some heat on it later tonight and possibly wrap it although I don’t know if that will help.

Good news, last night, playing the Kinect, I felt muscles I haven’t used in while!  One that always gives me trouble when I increase my distance running are my hip flexors.  Playing the soccer game last night really worked them out.  Maybe its something I need to add into my routine?  Haha!  Not a bad idea…

So I’m firmly planted on the couch today again.  Its getting frustrating.  Let’s hope the rest of marathon training isn’t riddled with injuries like this.  It is supposed to be beautiful weather this weekend so I hope to get in my long run (as long as the ankle is feeling better).  But really, I’m just hoping I can do 1 workout without hurting myself!

  1. Augh! I know how it feels to be down for the count! Rest and feel better – you are always good at listening to your body, so if you go out for your long run and it doesn’t seem right, I know you’ll make a good decision! Remember to count in some miles for me!

  2. I feel your pain. I did something to my left calf on my run Monday, and it’s driving me nuts that I can’t run on it yet.
