Like Night and Day

Tuesday, I woke up, got right out of bed, threw on my running clothes and headed out.

It was such a great run!  I did a 4:1 run/walk ratio as suggested by a friend and it really made my run enjoyable.  On top of that, my average pace was right on target!  I could have gone longer (muscle wise and mentally) but my ankle started bugging me which I compensated for by tilting which made my knee and hip hurt too.  LoL.  An hour run is pretty darn good to me though!

The rest of the day was equally great!  I wrote my blog, got some work done, went to class, and then finished up my homework for that class.  I was completely wired when bed time rolled around but just decided to lay down and sleep.

Then Wednesday came.  I didn’t want to get up, I slept through my alarms.  I didn’t work out right away, planning to work out after class.  Then I had to rush to campus for an unexpected teleconference which just drained the energy out of me.  Then class drove me crazy, my stomach was hurting from lunch so once recovered, I decided to get a bite to eat with a friend (actual good part of the day!).  I ordered a burger and ate the bun!  And then I got home, I was determined to do my homework from class, but I just couldn’t concentrate.  Nothing was making sense, I was cranky, tired.  I ate a small bowl of ice cream and watched tv.  So much for that Primal commitment.

What was with me?!  Tuesday and Wednesday were like night and day.  From the moment I got up, everything was different.  Today was starting off similar to Wednesday but I got out of bed finally (way late) and threw on my workout gear.  I finished my workout, but I still don’t feel all that great.  I just don’t know where these funks come from.  You could say the run helped but I woke up feeling good before the run.  Who knows!  My point is that every day is different.  I handled today better than yesterday so far.  Let’s hope the entire day goes much more like Tuesday!

To Do List for Today:
emoticon Recommit to The Primal Blueprint Challenge.
emoticon Make something inspirational/motivational/fun to remind me every day of my commitment to health.
emoticon Finish my homework (at least attempt to).
emoticon In the event that I cannot concentrate, do some yoga to relax.
emoticon Do not eat ice cream.

What is on your to-do list for today?

  1. I’ve asked my brother if he wants to volunteer with me at the STL Rock & Roll Marathon. It looks like fun (bit early–be on location at 5AM when it’s a 2 hour hitch up there? Erm…), don’t know if I’ll just come to watch/ pub crawl (as you guys run) and meet you at the end or be a good doobie and volunteer. Long day that.

        1. We are going to hit the bars while we run. Marathon pub run/crawl. 🙂 anyone can run a marathon few can run and drink at the same time.

          1. This is true…who needs GU and Gatorade when there is Guinness to be had? You just might be onto something…We have 5 weeks to prove/disprove the theory…think that is long enough?

          2. You’ve heard of ultra marathons? That’s an uber-marathon (for the biere drinkers…I can’t do gluten, so no fizzy for me; it’s all whiskey–triple distilled)

  2. Honestly? My only thing on my to do list is to make it through the day. I got my workout done this morning…though I have no clue how I managed it, but all I have to do now is get through today. I hear my bed calling me…
