Quarterly Goals

So after reviewing my 2012 Goals, I’ve decided to set up some “Fourth Quarter Goals”.  I like the idea of having 3 month goals.  3 months seems long enough to be a challenge but short enough that you don’t forget or lose interest.  We’ll see how this quarter goes and maybe this about doing this again!  On to my goals!

1.  Run 60 Miles
If I don’t include my run on Sunday (which is technically still September), that is about 20 miles a month.  If I successfully complete the marathon, I’ll already have 26 miles under my belt.  60 miles seems easy peasy then!  The reason I’m not making it higher is because I want to take off from running after the marathon.  20 miles a month is enough to keep me still running now and then but no pressure to run all the time.

2.  Do 1 Unassisted Pull Up
My original goal in January was 5 pull ups and I was terrified (it was Rob’s suggestion).  Now that I only have 3 months, I’ll shoot for just 1 pull up which is still terrifying.  LoL.  I have no idea how I’m going to go about doing this.  Suggestions are welcome!

3.  Lose 2% Body Fat
I have to retake my body fat this weekend, but since I last checked, I was still stuck at about 30.5% since January.  Even doing Insanity, that number never changed.  I’m not sure what a reasonable number is to shoot for over 3 months so I just picked 2% as a good starting point.

And that’s it!  3 small goals for the quarter.  I only made 5 for the year so only making 3 seems reasonable.  I don’t like to go crazy with lots of big goals because then they start to interfere with one another.  I like to pick just a few things to concentrate on!

Anyway, look for my October goals on Monday!  Spoiler:  I’ll be starting the New Rules of Lifting for Women on Monday.  Anyone want to join me?!

Do you make regular goals?  What do you think of Quarterly Goals?
They seem to work for the corporate world… LoL!

  1. I wanna start a Atkins-Primal on Monday because over the two months that I’ve been eating more fruits, I’ve gain over 4 kg. I guess I really need to watch my carb intake.

  2. Hrm…New Rules on Monday, eh? *thinks* *thinks some more* Maybe…

I love your goals and how reasonable they are. My goals right now:
    1) get to day 16 of Whole30 without cheating or burning out
    2) start building back in some exercise
    3) attempt to run and see if my foot can take it
    4) keep pinning all the pumpkin goodies I want and can’t have (funny…I can have pumpkin right now no problem, but what I want that involves pumpkin is a whole list of no-no foods! *lol*) …and clothes I can’t afford and can’t currently fit into as well. (Sorry! 😉 )

  3. Nice goals! I’m currently doing “let me ups” which I suppose are the most novice form of pull ups. I’m just following the YAYOG program.

It’s about 3 weeks away! I hope to meet you and Rob & maybe your other friends 🙂
