9 Miles – It’s Good to Be Back!

Weekend Change of Plans
Well hello everyone!  Its been days since my last blog!!  This weekend went a little crazy.  Rob came down Friday night and I was happy to spend some quiet time with him.  He had to work Saturday so he got up at around 4:30 AM to drive home!  Then he headed right back again after working a half day to spend the rest of the weekend with me.  He is such a sweetie!  Anyway, I had chosen not to go home so I could get some studying done.  Well…  that sort of didn’t happen as planned.  Anyway!

Long Run Saturday
Saturday morning, with Rob at work, that left me plenty of time to get my run in.  9 miles was on the calendar and it was a little daunting seeing as I haven’t been doing much running lately.  I knew I could push it out though.  Also, I couldn’t find a good running route in the area since I’m new here!  I settled with running around a college nearby that has a path around it.  It ended up working out great!  The path was over a mile and it took me about 7 laps plus a little running down the road to my place to do the 9 miles!

Run2

It took a lot to get me out the door on this one though.  My Garmin wasn’t working again!  (1 year warranty is up in January, you know I’m sending it back before then!).  I couldn’t decide what to wear (FYI my run went OMG I’m freezing to Oooh its nice out to OMG I’m BURNING ALIVE! loop after loop depending on what side of the campus I was on!)

So not bad considering how I didn’t want to run, I was all sorts of crazy temps, and I hadn’t run in weeks.  I’d be happy if I could maintain 12 minute miles for all of my marathon training long runs!  And I felt great afterward.  Even during, I was pretty content.  Never too bored or sore.  Just trodding along.  It made me like distance running again!  Yay!

Bad Eating Weekend
So the rest of the weekend was spent doing lots of frivolous shopping for the apartment and also a little Christmas shopping.  Sunday, I was expecting to study and had a horrible allergic reaction to breakfast and was feeling just off the rest of the day.  I feel terrible today too (just in time for my final!).  I don’t know what was up with that.  Anyway, so my eating has been AWFUL.  And I’m going to sugar coat it.  It is BAD.  Cookies, candies, beer, wine, comfort foods, etc.  In abundance!  Now, don’t give me the “it’s the Holidays” crap because that’s not it.  Its just me being irresponsible.  So enough of that.  But here is just a sampling of the things I’m eaten in the last week or so (as you can see, some good, and lots not-so-good)

Food

It probably is contributing to the crappy feeling of today.  So enough of this junk.  I might have a treat here or there this week (open half bottle of wine must be gotten rid of before Friday!) but not much mostly because I’m tired of eating it.  I’ve got fridge full of healthy eats and no reasons not to eat them!

Plan for the Week

  • Run 3 times
  • Eat those healthy foods
  • Talk to research advisors
  • Organize the apartment for winter break

  1. Good for you for getting in your run! We went out for our long run on Sun. It was CRAZY cold (23*) but I felt OK with my clothing choices….I did end up with icicles hanging from my hair by my ears so they were cold (from my hat up was great, and my ears were covered, but icicles!?! Really!?!?) Today was 27* and again, I felt ok – a bit bulky (had the hubs jacket on since I didn’t wash mine yet from Sunday! Yikes!) So I’m thinking that I might make it through this winter training this year!

Commit to eating well, and you’ll do it! I know you can, you’ve done it for so long now! Don’t let the little blip of the weekend derail you…keep chugging along down the healthy food road!!!

    1. But its been more than just the weekend! Eek! I am totally ready to commit again though, I feel like crap and I don’t want to anymore!

PS. Did 3 miles in 30 degrees today. More on that later but wore the same outfit as Saturday and was roasting!
