Dover Tourist

Well hello everyone!  I finally have internet!  I am back at my school apartment for the weeks and then home on the weekends.  I don’t have internet at the apartment yet but hopefully I can get that set up soon.  I realized just how much I use it!  Besides, I’d like to Skype with Rob when I’m away!

Anyway, this weekend was pretty busy I guess.  We drove to school on Friday and unloaded the car.  Saturday, we were bored, looking for things to do around the city and we found out its sooooo boring here.  Ugh.  Anyway, I found a historic home on the map and we decided to check it out (it was either this or the Victrola Museum, haha!).  Off we went.  It was booooring.  We had to watch a video and then it was a guided tour of the house (which was rather small but pretty).  The tour guide for the house was terrible.  She didn’t really know much and was just painful to listen to.  At least it got us walking around for an hour or so!  Besides, it was a beautiful day and we could walk the grounds some too.

I was most obsessed with the giant front door of the house.  The house doesn’t look that big until you get up close and realize how HUGE the windows and doors are!

DSCN6029After that, we headed to our favorite pub nearby and got some delicious dinner.  I just loved this picture of Rob with my beer.

That morning, we had gone for a run too and I wasn’t feeling right.  I told Rob I felt like a chesty cold was coming on.  Don’t you know I’ve had a horrible sore throat since then!  It comes and goes with a runny nose so lets hope it is just a passing thing and clears up in a few days.  That being said, I’m not going to push too crazy hard in my workouts if I don’t feel up to it.  Tonight’s plan is HIIT on the treadmill if I feel ok!  Also, lots and lots of water!!!

DSCN6030I also made my 2nd batch ever of soup last night!  Ha!  I wanted something to make me feel better.  I used a recipe from the Eat Clean Diet cookbook as a guide but didn’t follow it exactly.  I have it for lunch today and will let you know how it is!  I am a terrible soup-maker so no promises.  I also haven’t made those Larabars yet but promise I will this week!  I have everything for them here at the school apartment.  I might also try making energy bars of some sort for eating before my long runs.  Suggestions?

Health & Fitness

I am still maintaining but that’s about it.  I hope that with being settled at school on the weekdays, it will be easier to eat healthy and exercise.  I am going to check out the school gym today.  As a grad student, I have to pay for it but its only $80 a semester (or 1/3 of the year).  Not too bad but still annoyed I have to pay!  I am going to ask for a tour today before I sign up!  I will definitely need some sort of gym though with kettle bells, free weights, etc.  Need to make big strong muscles!

  1. Ugh, hope you’re feeling much better soon! That soup’ll put things right in no time (and what it doesn’t cure that beer will – lol!)

Beautiful photos, Ang. LOVE that colonial house!

  2. That door is MASSIVE!!!! I love going through old estates and properties, they are so beautiful, even if they are simple.

Having the gym at school will definitely help you out with your fitness goals, but ya, kind of a bummer it’s not included in your tuition

  3. Love that door! And the green just makes it POP! Very nice…
And that’s one of my hubs favorite beers…of course, I am partial to his home brew…right now he has 2 on tap…an oatmeal stout and one called Carribou Slobber that’s an amber ale, I think…
I just made a pot of Butternut Squash Soup for supper…I love making soups! I’d make one everyday if I could…I just have one kid who won’t touch the stuff! I also make a really good summer squash soup – it’s bright green! My next project is to try to make Thai Coconut Soup…gonna take the recipe over to the Asian market for the ingredients….LOVE that soup! I’d eat a pot a day if I can figure out how to make it!

    Feel better!
