Local Eats DE: Dover Newsstand

DSCN6151 (768x1024)As I mentioned in my blog yesterday, I sat all day at the café I mentioned.  Apparently I find internet highly addictive!  LoL.  Anyway, so I managed to sneak some pictures (and I’m here again today and got better pictures) so I figured I would do a local blog!

It is the Dover Newsstand.  It looks like its main business is from the local lunch crowd though.  They also are open for breakfast though with sandwiches, bagels, and coffee/espresso.DSCN6181 (1024x768)

I checked out their periodicals and I am shocked.  There is not a single fitness related magazine for women.  Not a one.  Not even Shape or Self (which half the magazine is fashion and beauty in those!).  Highly disappointed but I forgive them for use of the internet.

It has a very nice atmosphere here.  They have the TV on in the back area (not pictured) but its not that distracting.  I can hear it but it doesn’t bother me.  Yesterday, there were some ladies having a meeting, another lady reading the paper, some workers stopping in for coffee.  Just a nice place to be!  I was here long enough yesterday to enjoy a latte, a bagel and cream cheese, and lunch!

Everything is homemade so the chili was amazing!  I got the grilled chicken sandwich since it was the special ($6.99 for the sandwich and a side-the chili).  Everything I got was delicious.  I still think the coffee is ridiculously expensive in Dover.  A medium here is $2.  Really???  It seems like that in the whole city though!  Crazy people.  Despite this, I can see myself coming here often if I wasn’t supposed to be on campus the whole day.  They close at “4ish” according to their website so I can’t do late night studying here Sad smile  They are only open late on Fridays when I am usually home in NJ!

And to end, it was such a gorgeous day yesterday, I walked around town and it is SO CUTE here!  Too bad its nothing but lawyer’s offices and bail bonds (it’s the state capital and the courthouses are right here).  Such beautiful historic buildings though!

  1. Cute little place! No wonder you enjoyed spending the day…and it does look like a nice old town…love those brick buildings! Reminds me of my college town in Western MA.
