Lots of New Faces

Boy do I have a lot to talk about today!!  I’ll try squeezing it into one blog Smile

Tuesday!  So on Monday, I found out my friend Esther would be in Philadelphia, a mere 1.5 hours from my school.  I absolutely had to go out and meet her!  I had a presentation at 2 (which went well) and then I headed out to meet her for dinner.

Esther

Can you believe I didn’t take a picture??  I intended too but at least she got this one!  So anyway, I know Esther from Spark People and she is one of my closest friends on there!  I was so happy to see her.  We had just enough time to get dinner and then walk around center city a bit.  We ate dinner at a little tavern I knew about from another friend.  Their prices are cheap and their food is delicious!  They even make their own hot dogs.  We just had to try the Mahi Mahi hot dog.  It was amazing!

After dinner, we decided to walk around since we were only a few blocks from City Hall.  I had my boot on and she has a problem with her foot but we were determined to check things out since she would only be here for 2 days.  I found these “Angels” in City Hall.  Creepy.20121113_194129

And even though it was pretty cold out, I drug her to the cutest Gelato place ever!

That last picture I totally jacked from Esther’s Facebook page.  LoL.  They have fun “adult” flavors like cashew, thai coconut, etc.  I got Nutella and Sweet Amish Milk.  Delicious every time!

Finally, I had to head out since it was getting late and I had to be up super early the next day.  It would be nice to really spend some time with her!

Wednesday was a big day, I was headed off to Maryland for a meeting with the research group I work with (people from all over the world).  I had never met anyone else from the group (I lie, I met 1) so this was a big day of new faces.

It was a 2 hour drive and ended up being a really looooong day.  I ate breakfast around 6 and we didn’t break for lunch until almost 1!!!  I was not a happy camper, I felt horrible.  I even had some of the pastries they provided or I was going to die.  I packed snacks and ate those too.  In the afternoon, I had a diet Coke and a cookie to stay awake because that was a long gap too!  Anyway, one bright thing was that I got to take my boot off! Now only stylish boots here!

After the meeting, about half of us went out to dinner to the Rusty Scupper in Baltimore right on the Inner Harbor.  It was beautiful but a pretty pricey place.  The food was delicious though!

Finally, I didn’t get home til after 11.  At least it was an easy drive, nothing but highway!

Healthy Holidays Challenge

I could talk about my goals but I really don’t want to.  Tuesday was to eat all natural which I think I did but I am just going to do it over today.  Wednesday was a mini circuit.  First, I was busy all day and second, I didn’t want to push my ankle too hard.  It hurt for most of the day (the muscles and ligaments, not the bone) because it wasn’t used to being used but by the end of the night, I was able to climb steps without pain.  I hope to try the circuit tonight!

So basically, I’m doing 3 goals today instead of 1!  It will also be another late night because I have a seminar to attend on campus at 6 PM.  Well, I have lots of little things to get done today!  I also have a take home exam in one class.  This semester is going nonstop!

  1. One of my running partners grew up right around the corner from APL, and one of my other running partners goes there weekly! Both also happen to work for Lockheed! So I know exactly where that is!!! That’s where we stayed when we ran DC in March.
Glad you are out of the boot and can get back to normal activities!!! Woo HOO!
