Kayaking & Going Primal

Wow what a weekend!  I did a whole lot of nothing it seems.  Friday and Saturday were spent running about doing errands with Rob, but the real fun was on Sunday when we used our Living Social deal for a 2 hour Kayak rental at Miss Chris Marina in Cape May, NJ!

We had an *interesting* time.  We got a double kayak while our friend had the single.  He seemed to be able to rip around the river while we struggled to keep up, even though we got the “paddle together” thing down pretty quickly.  We ended up going down what we later found out was the “wrong way” (not wrong, just very hard, lol).  It took us about 30 minutes to go out and probably like an hour to come back because of the current.  My arms were killing me!!!!  I actually couldn’t sleep all night, I was in so much pain.  I had a good time but next time we stick to staying near the island!

After that, we headed out to Two Mile Island.  Locals remember this place from a few years ago when the restaurant floor caved into the bay.  Oops.  Well, the restaurant is still closed (wah!) but there is a different Crab House right next to it now that serves Maryland style crabs and all sorts of local seafood!  Everything was delicious but a little pricey.  It was very fresh though!  And you can’t beat the view and the weather.

I really had a good time but it would have been WAY better if we had putzed around the calmer areas.  LoL!  If I ever buy a kayak, I’m sticking to lakes.

Health & Fitness

Goals?  I had goals this month?  I’m such a bad accountability partner (sorry Lauren!  But I have been checking your MFP!!).  I ate terribly this weekend and sort of stuffed my face a bit.  I had written some whiney blogs on SparkPeople last week, but not on The Chicken Scoop, where I addressed some lack of motivation issues.  Some people suggested taking a break from working out because I may be burnt out.  Normally I would agree *if I had been working out hard* but check out my workout calendar from August:

The exact opposite is the problem.  I’m not motivated because I haven’t been sweating it up.  I’m tired of making goals and trying to motivate myself so instead I’m just going to take it day by day.  Obviously the goals aren’t exactly working for me right now.  Instead, I just need a reminder of my priorities:

Get better at getting up in the morning.

  Continue to drink enough water.

Work out regularly.  Don’t stress over the type or duration.

Remember how crappy I feel when I eat crappy.

Enjoy the time I spend with Rob, even if we’re busy.

  Get off the computer.

These are all things that are normally floating around in the back of my mind but sometimes we all need a little reminder. Just simple rules to live by.  I’ll go into them more perhaps tomorrow but these are my basic goals right now.

New Development!

I did just say I didn’t want any more goals right?  LoL, well my mom shared a blog with me on the 21 Day Primal Blueprint Challenge with Mark’s Daily Apple.  Well, of course I will join my mom on this!  Besides, he is giving away lots of prizes if you participate.  I don’t have to change my guidelines above really to follow his challenge so I might as well!  Check out the challenge and let me know if you are doing it too!

  1. kayaking sounds like so much fun!! but extremely hard! And don’t beat yourself up with the workouts. 2-3 times a week is better than nothing! you are still kicking butt! and that challenge sounds great! I am definitely going to look into it!
