Love for Trails

I really need to get out of the house!  Yesterday, I had so many distractions but the biggest one was this little cutie:

She is our shyest cat but not around me!  She just constantly wants to be pet.  I guess I need to figure out a new place to work.  Getting out of the house would be great but the only real option is the library.  There are a couple of dilemmas with the library though:

  • Leaving your things in public unattended for ladies room breaks.
  • My school laptop weights like 20 pounds.
  • The laptop battery is bad so I have to be plugged in.
  • Bringing lunch and having to leave the library to eat (i.e. pack up all my stuff).

It would be nice to just stay at home but there are just too many interruptions and distractions here!  Putting a desk in our bedroom is an idea but there is really no room for a desk in there (and I hate working in the same room that I sleep in – one of those sleep tips).  I’ll figure something out!

So, Rob and I have decided to start running together during the week.  We used to meet on his lunch break but I feel like that interrupts my day too much so we agreed to go after he gets off work.  Yesterday, we tried a new park they are working on in the town we live in.  We have some parks, one with a 1 mile paved path around it, but this new park will be all trails.  It is an old pit in the woods and is pretty big.

We just ran the main perimeter to figure out how long it was and it was about 1.5 miles so it’s a good, long path we can now run!  I really love running the trails with Rob.  We tend to stop and do some walking because of the hills and things but its way more fun than running around houses on pavement!

Now, there’s only one issue is that my tail runners are too small (don’t ask how I bought shoes that were a little too short).  I was slipping and sliding in my grippiest shoes yesterday so I’ll need to get a new pair.  I don’t want to spend the same kind of money I do on my regular running sneakers though.  I’ll be shopping around before I buy any.

Can you recommend a pair of trail running sneakers?

I was looking at the Adidas Thrashers which are the same as the ones I have that are too small.  They run about $65 online but I’m going to check out DSW and Famous Footwear today to see if I can find something cheaper!

Finally, here is a shot of what I ate yesterday.

Great day!!  I think I was around 1600-1700 calories for the day (with my estimates for my take out salad and garlic knots for dinner).  That is my biggest annoyance with tracking.  First, I don’t like to measure, and second, it is really hard to estimate and guess what you ate if you didn’t make it.  If every meal was 3 ounces of chicken and 1 cup of broccoli, it wouldn’t be a problem!  But that’s not how I eat.  I did the best I could!

Do you love or hate tracking your food?
