I participated in the last two days of Colourful Palate‘s Smoothie challenge and changed it up! I decided to break my habit of a daily banana this week so I had to be a bit more creative with the smoothies. A banana is usually my “base”. Anyway, I decided to go with berry smoothies this time. I had taken some strawberries from Rob’s stash, had some frozen blueberries waiting, and just bought some cherries. My first berry smoothie, I thought “not enough protein” and added protein powder. Ehhh… Not great but drinkable. The second one was much better but totally lacking in protein. It was a carbohydrate bomb and oh so delicious! Much more of a dessert drink than a meal.
- 1/2 Cup Blueberries
- 4-5 Strawberries
- 6-7 Black Cherries
- 1/2 Cup Liquid of Choice
- Ice
This works best if all of your berries are frozen but it worked fine with only frozen blueberries. I used water the first day and aloe juice the second day. This would taste amazing with Orange Juice but I don’t keep that around. Coconut water would be a good move too!
