DVD Review & Coconut Milk Ice Cream

BobsWorkoutGood morning!  First, let’s talk about my workout yesterday.  Strength training is super important and I have been a little slacking on it so instead of a run, I decided I would do a DVD.  I love Bob Harper’s Inside Out method series of DVDs.  These are not for the weak, they really kick my butt every time.  Bob’s Workout was no different!  I just tried Workout 1 – Upper Body and boy was it killer!  I couldn’t even keep up and I was sweating buckets by the end – and only a half hour!!

In this DVD, Bob acts as your trainer as a single girl demonstrates the workout.  The moves are ones that you could easily do in a gym.  You really don’t need the DVD.  You could write down each move and do it anywhere/anytime.  I loved that about this workout.  You will need at least 2 sizes of dumbbells and 3 kettle bells (you could use 3 different dumbbells for this too).  He also uses a step but it was hard enough for me doing it on the floor!  It was also over before I knew it.  That could be because I’m used to the Insanity VDs at 45-55 minutes each.  Overall, I really loved this DVD and plan on using it regularly!  Can’t wait to try workout 2 – lower body but with how sore I am today, I’m a little afraid of it to!

I also finally tired So Delicious Dairy Free Coconut Milk Ice Cream last night in Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl.  I really had a hankering for ice cream and no other foods would satisfy it (I ate an apple, a nectarine, and blueberries first!!).  The verdict?  It does the same evil things to my digestion as real ice cream.  It must be all the sugar.  So I might as well have the real stuff.  It was very good though.  It has a very strong coconut flavor at first but then you get used to it after a few bites and you can taste the other flavors.  The texture is also excellent, very similar to real ice cream.  If you need to make the switch, this is a pretty darn good option.  Also, if you are wondering if your store carries any of their products, there is a store locater on their website.  Very handy!

I’m stressing out a bit over one more topic but I can’t seem to get my thoughts together on it today so I’m going to leave you with a quote.

What are your opinions on it?  What about healthy living bloggers?  They can’t be silent on what they eat.  Am I being preachy about the Paleo Diet?  Are you tired of hearing about it?  Should I continue to eat the way I do but not use the word “Paleo”?  Thoughts?

  1. I think how one eats and lives is more important than having a name for it. Like you said this (Paleo) works for you but you chose to follow it x% of the time. I’d not call it any specific name and leave it at that. I think I will follow my own advice 🙂

  2. If I eat something like a dessert having 700 or so calories (basically, a bunch of sugar), I get breakouts. Doesn’t matter if it’s vanilla, chocolate or fruit sorbet — MASS sugar? Get ready for 2-5 spots for the week.

The upside is getting off grains meant that my types 2 and 4 (not flushing, we’re talking severe) “rosacea” practically went away. Like many others, I’d been misdiagnosed!).

  3. I say do whatever you need/want to do for you! If the paleo works, go for it. It (and other ways of eating) are not for everyone. One shouldn’t breach to others, when you don’t have the whole story. I luckily have never had someone preach to me about my blog eats, which I am very thankful for. I hope whatever is on your mind, gets resolved/better soon!

  4. I’d say that if you use the word “Paleo” and it sparks someone’s interest, then they can look into it further. If you don’t use the word, then are you doing a disservice to someone who is seeking more info? I don’t think that you are preaching, or telling someone what to do. You have made it clear that it is what works for you…and that you aren’t 100% compliant. It’s up to an individual to do what works for them. I am WAY more compliant than the rest of my family, by my choice….it works better for me….I think you are just being real….
